The Great Smoky Mountains sits upon the massive ridges of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. The name, “Smoky” comes from the smoke-like fog that blankets the mountains most often in the early morning. The Great Smoky Mountains have other common names including the Smoky Mountains, Smokies, and the Great Smokies.
Well known for diverse flora and fauna with breathtaking vistas, the Great Smoky Mountains offer nature enthusiasts abundant photographic opportunities.

Smoky Mountain Springtime Eco-Photo Tour
Gatlinburg, Tennessee ~ April 7 – 12, 2013
The Great Smoky Mountains present an outstanding array of photographic possibilities from closeups to breathtaking scenic vistas, flora and fauna. Flowing rivers canopied with flowering dogwood and eastern redbud trees grace the springtime mountains. Hiking trails, adorned with an incredible variety of native wildflowers, including trillium and orchids.
An intimate eco-photo tour offers a maximum of 10 participants unique opportunities to aquire new skills and techniques during in-the-field photo shoots. Photograph side-by-side with Mark and Bob as they guide you to their favorite locations and habitats in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Participants should possess a basic knowledge of their camera controls and equipment. Tips and suggestions will be offered only during photography sessions while in the field. Participants will hike every day including some extended mountain hikes requiring good physical health. This exclusive eco-photo tour appeals to participants who enjoy the process of capturing incredible images in very inspiring locations. Limited to 10 participants.
Six-day driving & hiking tour- Tuition: $995 per person, per tour
- $495 per person, per tour for non-photographing spouses/partners
