Leelanau Peninsula

Picturesque...quaint...historic...scenic

The Leelanau Peninsula remains home to inspiring natural scenery, sandy-bottom inland lakes, quaint villages, and historic farms. As the nation’s largest cherry producer as well as a premier vineyard and winemaking region, this pastoral peninsula offers picturesque landscapes of rolling cherry orchards and hilltop vineyards…a photographers delight.

The peninsula, surrounded by the deep blue waters of Lake Michigan, is the home of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, ABC Good Morning America’s Most Beautiful Place in America. Expansive vistas of water, sand dunes and clear blue sky offer perfect landscape photographic opportunities. The sunsets are nothing less that spectacular…and different every evening. “Leelanau”, the Ojibwa Indian word for “Land of Delight.” Delight yourself in Leelanau’s abundance of natural beauty and small-town charm.

All Leelanau Peninsula eco-photo tours and excursions are hosted by The Homestead in Glen Arbor. For lodging, contact The Homestead directly (231.334.5000).

“The Dunes were breathtaking and the hands-on class was the best I have ever been to. Thank you for this exciting opportunity and your patience and enthusiasm. Both of you made learning a fun adventure, I never felt intimidated to ask a question. It was well worth the airfare from PA, my photos are beautiful. Plus, now that I’m back home, our foliage has not yet peaked, so I continue to shoot with the basic knowledge you provided us,
with very little adjustment.”
